Dear Chairwoman Hina,
I know that I am far from the perfect secretary for you. I do not dare to claim that I did my best as an excuse for my inability to perform well enough as your secretary.
However, there's one thing that I have exceeded at doing throughout my time under you.
And that is… keeping my personal issues hidden from you.
Please rest assured, Chairwoman Hina.
You will never know about the power harassment that the Pandemonium Society has directed towards me.
You will never know about the bullying I have received; the pet leash with a malicious message inscribed, the broken glass left in my slippers, and everything else that has hurt me.
You will never know about the personal issues I have, no matter how much they may pain me.
I know that what I am doing is destructive and unhealthy. I know that if you knew about what I am doing, you would scold me for not asking for help. I even know that you would definitely help me resolve my issues.
But that is exactly why I refuse to reveal my issues to you.
Chairwoman Hina, I know more than anyone just how large your workload is–that it already overwhelms you. Your current workload alone already causes you so much strain, such that you are at risk of collapse.
I do not dare to let my issues be a part of your burden. I do not wish to see you crumble because of me.
…Even if that means I must face my problems alone, without anyone else to rely on.
But that is okay. What little free time you have should not be used for my sake—this lowly, far-from-perfect secretary of yours.
As long as you are happy during the little free time you have, I do not have a problem facing my issues alone.
With sincere love,
Amau Ako
Your humble secretary
This is one in a series of letters that Ako has written to express her thoughts and feelings towards Hina, which she proceeds to burn once finished.
She never intends to actually send any of these letters to Hina; she just wants to express her thoughts and feelings towards Hina in secret, away from anyone else’s view, even Hina.
Perhaps this is how Ako copes with her loneliness, as she is a girl who can’t be honest with herself.
